2022 Race No. 17 – Friday, March 11, 2022 ARCA Menards Series – Lucas Oil 150 – Phoenix Raceway
The 2022 edition of the ARCA Menards Series features a talent-laden field of young racers. Taylor Gray, 16, scored his career first series win in the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway. The youngster had more than his share of challengers over the last laps, with a couple of late-race restarts to deal with.
The win also was emotional for the team; four days earlier their hauler driver – Steven Stotts – lost his life in an accident while driving through Texas to the event. A backup car was completed, transported across the country for Gray to drive.
Daniel Dye, Sammy Smith, Rajah Caruth and Jake Drew, all young up-and-coming drivers, completed the top five.
