RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 133 – October 2, 2022 Yellawood 500 – NASCAR Cup Series – Talladega Superspeedway

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Chase Elliott won Sunday’s Yellawood 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. It was his fifth win of the season and clinched a position in the “Round of 8” in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

Elliott positioned himself toward the front of the field as the 188 laps wound down. With one lap remaining, he jumped out of line from second alongside leader Ryan Blaney. Erik Jones was pushing Elliott, with Blaney getting help from Michael McDowell.

As they raced off the final corner Elliott was able to slide in front of Blaney and sprint to the finish line .046-second ahead. Blaney was second with McDowell close in third. It was Elliott’s second career win at Talladega.
