RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 131 – September 25, 2022 NHRA Carolina Nationals – ZMax Dragway
CONCORD, N.C. – Antron Brown and Ron Capps were the winners in the nitro portion of the Betway Carolina Nationals NHRA drag race at ZMaz Dragway on Sunday, while Aaron Stanfield won the Pro Stock race. It was the second event of the six-race Countdown to the Championship.
Brown won following a holeshot over Justin Ashley in Top Fuel; his time was slower – 3.672 to 3.671 – but his start was quicker -- .035 to .055 – to give him the win. It was his 71st overall NHRA victory and 55th of his career in Top Fuel.
Capps had a close one as well in the Funny Car Final besting Alexis DeJoria with a 3.96 to her 3.98. It was his 72nd career victory and second in the last three events.
Stanfield had a better start and faster run getting the Pro Stock win over Matt Hartford. For Stanfield it was his 20th overall NHRA win and seventh victory in the Pro Stock Division.
