RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 123: September 10, 2022 Kansas Lottery 300 – NASCAR Xfinity Series – Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Noah Gragson won his fifth NASCAR Xfinity Series race of the 2022 season in the rain-shortened Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway.

A caution with rain approaching on lap 72 slowed the field with most of the front runners pitting. Lap 90 was the end of the second stage, making the race official, that set teams strategizing to be in front when the rain hit. Gragson restarted sixth on the lap 76 restart and quickly moved to the lead past cars with older tires. From there he survived a caution for rain, another short spurt of racing to win the second stage.

As the cars worked slowly around the track, the rain his and on lap 94 the event was stopped and ultimately called official. Gragson was the leader over his JR Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier. Ty Gibbs, who dominated earlier in the race, finished third.
