RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 108: August 18, 2022 Super DIRTCar Series Modifieds – SummerFAST – Land of Legends Raceway.
CANANDAGUA, N.Y. – Matt Sheppard won Thursdays 60-lap SummerFAST Speedweek event for the Super DIRTcar Series at Land of Legends Raceway. The win earned him the inaugural mini-series championship.
Sheppard won his heat race and followed that up with drawing the pole-position for the feature. He jumped into the lead at the drop of the green and despite a few restarts was never seriously challenged. Adam Pierson was solid throughout the race in the second spot.
While the battle at the front was lackluster, the race for third back was intense throughout the event. In the end it was 12th -starting Jimmy Phelps getting the third-place finish behind Sheppard and Pierson.
The win was the fifth overall series win this season for Sheppard, an eight-time champion.
