RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 102 – August 10, 2022 Knoxville Nationals Preliminary Night 1 – Knoxville Raceway

KNOXVILLE, Iowa – Logan Schuchart scored the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car victory Wednesday night on the first preliminary night for the 61st NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals, presented by Casey’s General Stores at Knoxville Raceway.

The “box score” will show that Schuchart led every lap, but it was filled with challenges. James McFadden jumped to the early lead, but a caution negated that start and allowed Schuchart the chance to get the upper hand.

The race was slowed by a couple of caution periods that put a challenge up for Schuchart, and then over the final few laps it was 10-time Knoxville Nationals Champion Donny Schatz closing rapidly. But Schuchart was up for all challenges and got the win.

He also won the non-sanctioned Capitani Classic on Sunday night at the track.

Schatz finished second with David Gravel third.
