Race 89 – July 15, 2022 Friday Night Weekly Racing – Penn Can Speedway, Susquehanna, Pa.
SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. -- Brian Malcolm scored the victory in the 25-lap 602 Crate Sportsman Feature Friday night at Penn Can Speedway.
Malcolm started on the outside of the front row and immediately to jumped into the lead at the start. The race was slowed early multiple times, and each time Malcolm was able to get the upper hand on the restarts. The final caution was on lap 16, setting up a nine-lap run to the finish.
Ray Leonard started tracking down Malcolm in the final few laps and caught him on the last lap. Leonard dove inside Malcolm in turn three, the cars bounced off each other with Malcolm first to recover and won the race to the checkered flag. Leonard finished second with Marty Goodwin third.
Other Winners were Matt Browning in the SCDRA 4 Cylinder race, Jared Green in the 600cc Modified feature and Jason Rhodes won the Factory Stock main.
