2022 Race No. 63: May 25, 2022 Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series – Double Down Showdown – Millbridge Speedway

SALISBURY, NC – Cannon McIntosh, the 19-year-old Bixby, Okla. driver, won a wild 40-lap Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota in the final night of the Double Down Showdown at Millbridge Speedway.

McIntosh won the pole position and took the early lead, after a comfortable first half the second half was anything-but-comfortable. Extremely heavy lapped traffic, with Millbridge hot shoes Gavan Boschele and Brent Crews in hot pursuit, resulted in some jaw-dropping moves as the trio navigated the backmarkers.

In the final five laps it was McIntosh and Boshele, the Tuesday night winner, trading slide jobs until lap 37 when Boschele flipped wildly going for the lead. He collected third-running Crews in the crash. From there McIntosh managed a pair of restarts to get his first win in the series.

Taylor Reimer matched the best-ever finish by a woman in a National Midget Series race with a second-place finish. Zach Daum followed up a second-place finish on Tuesday with a third Wednesday.

In the companion Micro Sprint Feature it was Kyle Larson getting the victory.
