2022 Race No. 55: May 12, 2022 XR Super Series – Colossal 100 Preliminary Night – The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Kyle Larson set quick time, won his heat and led flag-to-flag in the 30-lap feature with win the $25,000 Thursday preliminary night race at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was his second Super Late Model win this season.
Larson dominated the early and middle portions of the race, but things got close at the end. The race ran green-to-checkered in 11 minutes and 27 seconds, that pace put Larson in heavy lapped traffic in the final ten laps. Brandon Overton closed to within a car length in the final circuits, but ultimately Larson navigated the traffic successfully for victory.
Overton settled for second with Wednesday’s preliminary night winner Chris Madden third.
In the companion 602 late model feature it was Preston Blalock better his third-place finish on Wednesday with the win.
