2022 Race No. 52: May 7, 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series – Mahindra ROXOR 200 – Darlington Raceway
Justin Allgaier snapped a 34-race win drought with the victory in Saturday’s Mahindra ROXOR 200 at Darlington Raceway. It was his 17th career series victory.
The race started badly for Allgaier with a battery failure when engines were started. The crew made the change, but that forced him to start at the tail of the field. From that point, it was nearly flawless though for the team with a fast race car and great pit work.
It only took him 50 laps (of the 147) to get to the front and he led 79 of the final 97 laps to get the win. He survived a few late race pitstops and strategy calls, but that fast car always propelled him to the point. In the end it was a 1-2 finish for JR Motorsports with Noah Gragson finishing second. Riley Herbst finished third.
