2022 Race No. 27 – Friday, April 1, 2022 NASCAR Whelen Modifieds Tour – Richmond Raceway
Three-time, and reigning, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion Justin Bonsignore scored his first win of the season in the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 150 at Richmond Raceway. The win was a big “bounce back” as a mechanical problem in the opening round of the Tour resulted in a 31st-place finish.
Bonsignore won the pole and led early before pit strategy cycled him to the back half of the top 10. With final pitstops completed he restarted seventh with 49 laps remaining and patiently raced forward. Tommy Catalano set the pace multiple times looking for his career-first Tour win, but on lap 139 yielded the top spot to Bonsignore.
Bonsignore scored his 32nd-career Tour victory. Catalano settled for second with Chuck Hossfeld rallying for a third-place finish.
